'Language of Memory' exhibition - Birth: Origins at the end of life

'Language of Memory', a solo exhibition by Whitney McVeigh, centres on her film ‘Birth: Origins at the end of Life'. Exhibited at Meadows Gallery (Summerhall - Edinburgh) and Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts (Japan). It was the first project I've worked with Whitney where we recorded six women’s experience of birth and existence, in the setting of St Christopher’s Hospice, London. The film is enveloped by subtle installations, hand-drawn and written works, ruminating upon memory and childhood. The exhibition continues with a series of objects the artist has collected over a twenty-year period to reflect philosophical understandings of history, time and memory.
"Birth: Origins at the end of life" also screened at Royal Academy of Arts.
